Halal Brand Guide

Paldo instant noodles vary by product. Some flavours (especially pork-based ramen) contain pork extract and are Haram. Other flavours (e.g. Paldo Bibim Men, Kokomen) do not list pork but carry no halal certification. Halal-certified Paldo products are sold in Malaysia and some Gulf markets — not standard Western retail.

Chestnut Hill Farms American cheese singles carry no halal certification. Processed cheese singles typically contain dairy from uncertified US supply chains and may use animal rennet. No gelatine. E471 (if present) source unconfirmed. Verdict: Mushbooh.

Cremissimo family tubs (Eskimo/Unilever Austria) contain E471 (mono and diglycerides of fatty acids) whose animal or vegetable source is not declared. No halal certification exists. Maxx Eis stick formats carry additional risk of pork gelatin as a stabiliser. Both brands are Mushbooh until the E471 source is confirmed by a recognised halal body.

Mott's products are not uniform. The core Assorted Fruit Snacks line is gelatin-free — Keurig Dr Pepper (the manufacturer) confirmed it uses fruit pectin, not gelatin, and the Amazon listing labels the product 'Gelatin Free.' Colours are from vegetable and fruit juice. No halal certification exists. Mott's Fruit Rolls are a separate product that contains non-vegetarian gelatin — Haram. Always check the label per SKU.

Smarties UK are vegetarian-certified but not halal-certified. Nestlé self-declares that E471 in Smarties is of vegetable origin, but this has not been independently audited by HMC, HFA, or MCB. No gelatin is used. Plant-based colours replaced artificial dyes in 2006. For Muslims who require a recognised halal stamp, standard UK Smarties are Mushbooh. Smarties manufactured for Malaysia and the Middle East may carry regional Nestlé halal certification.

Sour Patch Kids sold in the UK (branded Maynards Bassetts) explicitly list pork gelatin on the packaging and are not halal. The US formulation is gelatin-free but is a different product not available in UK supermarkets.

Webber Naturals Biotin status depends on the specific product. SKUs labeled 'Vegetarian Capsules' use HPMC-type capsules with no animal products — ingredient profile is halal-compliant. Where capsules are not labeled vegetarian, Webber Naturals states in their FAQ that the gelatin used is bovine (beef). No product holds formal halal certification from a recognised body (ISNA-Canada, IFANCA, etc.). The determining factor is the 'Vegetarian Capsules' label on the pack.

Wonka Chocolate Bars do not list haram ingredients but carry no halal certification and share a production facility with pork-gelatin products — Mushbooh. No Wonka or Nerds product holds halal certification from any recognised body.

Bebeto is halal. All products are manufactured in Turkey and carry halal certification from Turkish halal authorities. The brand uses plant-based or fish gelatine alternatives — no pork gelatine in any product.

Boxed Halal is a US direct-to-consumer halal meat delivery brand. All meats are zabiha halal certified — sourced from certified halal farms and processors, hand-slaughtered to Islamic requirements. Products include steaks, ground beef, chicken, and lamb, available as sampler bundles and individual cuts. Ships frozen across the US.

Choceur chocolate (Aldi own-brand) contains no pork gelatine and uses E322 soya lecithin — a plant-derived, halal emulsifier. However, the vanilla flavouring listed has an undisclosed source (natural vanilla extract commonly uses ethanol as a carrier), and Aldi holds no halal certification from HMC, HFA, JAKIM, or any recognised body. Verdict: Mushbooh — the ingredients are not confirmed haram, but they are unverified.

Kervan is halal. The brand is manufactured by Kervan Gıda in Istanbul and carries halal certification from Turkish authorities. No pork gelatine — all products comply with halal standards.
