Halal Evidence Profile terms

These terms apply to the paid Halal Evidence Profile service. They add to the site-wide disclaimer and privacy policy. Effective from 24 September 2026.

1. What the service is

  1. A Halal Evidence Profile ("profile") is a public web page on halalcodecheck.com that presents information and documents a food business ("you") supplies about its halal sourcing, certification and preparation, together with HalalCodeCheck’s ("HCC", "we") record of what it checked.
  2. The service consists of organising your submitted information, checking documents as described in section 3, publishing the profile, providing a QR code and print files, sending expiry reminders, and re-checking on change events.
  3. The service is not halal certification, inspection, auditing, document authentication or a religious ruling. HCC does not determine that any food is halal. A profile must not be described by you as HCC certification, approval or endorsement.

2. Two records

  1. Your profile holds two records that are stored and shown separately: the disclosure record you control (answers, documents, supplier information, statements) and HCC’s editorial assessment (status, scope note, checked date, "what we did not check").
  2. HCC’s assessment follows the published methodology and reflects the evidence on the checked date only. Payment for the service does not influence the assessment. A fee buys review work and placement, never a particular status.

3. What HCC checks

  1. For each document you supply, HCC records the issuer, holder, facility, scope, market, dates and reference number, and checks that these details match the file. Such a document is labelled "Document supplied".
  2. Where the issuer publishes a public register or provides written confirmation, HCC compares the document to that source. Only then is a document labelled "Issuer confirmed".
  3. HCC does not inspect premises, verify supplier lists beyond documents supplied, or confirm free-text statements. Each profile states what was and was not checked.
  4. Expired documents move to a "Historical" section automatically. A disputed document is shown as "Under review" and does not count as support until resolved.

4. Your affirmations and duties

  1. You confirm that you are authorised to act for the business, that the information and documents you supply are genuine and current, and that you hold the rights needed to let HCC publish them.
  2. You give HCC permission to publish the approved parts of your submission and to state publicly what HCC checked. Uploaded files remain private unless you approve a specific document for publication.
  3. You must tell HCC within 14 days of any change that affects the profile: a certificate expiry, renewal, withdrawal or scope change; a change of supplier for meat or poultry; a change of ownership, menu or preparation practice; or the introduction of alcohol on the premises.
  4. HCC does not list venues that serve or permit alcohol. If alcohol is served at any time, the profile is suspended and no refund is due for the current period.

5. Fees and billing

  1. Prices are shown in US dollars, exclusive of tax, on the /for-business/ page. Payments are processed by Paddle.com, our merchant of record, which adds any applicable VAT or sales tax at checkout and issues invoices.
  2. Subscriptions renew monthly or yearly until cancelled. A trial period, where offered, requires a payment method and converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends.
  3. Setup fees, including the founding pilot setup, are one-off and are due before publication.
  4. A price change is announced at least 30 days in advance and applies only to new subscriptions or at your next renewal after notice. Pilot pricing is locked for the stated period.
  5. Refunds are governed by the refund policy at /for-business/refunds/.

6. Cancellation, suspension and the paused page

  1. You may cancel at any time from the Paddle billing portal. Access to the maintained profile continues to the end of the paid period.
  2. If a payment fails and is not resolved within Paddle’s retry window, or when a subscription is cancelled or refunded, the profile is suspended.
  3. A suspended profile is not deleted, because printed QR codes continue to circulate. For 12 months it shows a neutral notice that the profile is paused and its evidence is not currently maintained, with the last checked date and the concern form, and no status badge. After 12 months it shows a plain historical notice.
  4. HCC may suspend a profile immediately if it has reason to believe a document is not genuine, if the business serves alcohol, if a concern is upheld, or if you breach these terms.

7. Corrections, concerns and disputes

  1. Every profile links to a concern form that customers, certifiers and businesses can use. HCC acknowledges concerns and marks affected items "Under review" while it looks into them.
  2. Where a document or statement conflicts with HCC’s own editorial finding, the conflict is shown, any positive badge is suppressed, and the editorial finding stands until an evidence-based change is approved.
  3. You may ask HCC to correct factual errors in the editorial record at any time. HCC decides corrections on the evidence.

8. Liability and general

  1. HCC provides the service with reasonable care but gives no warranty that a profile will produce customers, sales or any particular outcome.
  2. To the extent permitted by law, HCC’s total liability in connection with the service is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim.
  3. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. They are read together with the site disclaimer and privacy policy at /disclaimer-privacy/.
  4. HCC may update these terms. Material changes are announced by email at least 30 days before they take effect.
