Is Kopiko Halal?

Kopiko is halal. It is one of the easier verdicts on this site: an Indonesian product from a manufacturer whose home market requires halal assurance, certified by MUI, with the halal logo printed on the pack and an ingredient list short enough to read in five seconds.

Someone searched this site for “kopico candy” and found nothing — the spelling with a c is common, the brand is Kopiko, and it deserved a page.

What’s in It

Kopiko coffee candy is made by PT Mayora Indah, the Jakarta food group behind Torabika coffee and Roma biscuits. The ingredient list on the standard coffee candy: sugar, glucose syrup, vegetable oil (palm and/or coconut), coffee extract (4.9%), butter, soy lecithin, caramel colour, salt, natural coffee flavour.

Nothing on that list has a halal problem:

Independent retail listings of the same product in the UK and Canada also carry the halal label, and Wikipedia’s brand entry records MUI approval alongside Malaysian recognition. We did not retrieve the certificate number from Mayora’s site during this check (the site’s certificate blocked automated fetching); the on-pack logo is the working verification.

Variants: Kopiko Cappuccino candy and Kopiko’s ready-to-drink coffee cans (Kopiko Lucky Day, 78°C) are also Mayora products made in Indonesia under the same certification regime; the RTD lines add milk and stabilisers but no animal-derived ingredient we could find.

Export packs: Kopiko is now packed for the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and other markets. Check that the halal logo is on the specific pack — an Indonesian-made bag will show it.
