No Guarantee of Accuracy
The information provided by HalalCodeCheck, including E-code classifications and halal status determinations, is based on research from various sources. However, we cannot guarantee:
- 100% accuracy of all E-code classifications
- That manufacturing processes haven't changed
- That source ingredients remain consistent across all manufacturers
- That label scanning will capture all ingredients accurately
Verification Recommendation
We strongly recommend that users verify halal status with:
- Official halal certification bodies in your region
- Trusted Islamic religious authorities
- Product manufacturers directly
- Established halal certification labels on products
Mushbooh Classification
E-codes marked as "Mushbooh" (doubtful/questionable) may be derived from halal or haram sources depending on the manufacturer. These require additional verification. The halal permissibility of mushbooh items varies among different schools of thought.
Label Scanning Technology Limitations
Our label scanning technology may not perfectly capture all text from product labels. Factors affecting accuracy include image quality, lighting, label design, and text size. Always manually verify detected ingredients and E-codes.

HalalCodeCheck and its creators assume no liability for any decisions made based on the information provided by this tool. Users are solely responsible for their dietary choices and should exercise their own judgment and due diligence.
Updates and Changes
We continuously update our database to reflect new information and research. However, we cannot guarantee that all information is current at all times. E-code classifications and sources may change over time.

Data Collection
HalalCodeCheck is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data:

- No image storage - Scanned images are processed locally and not uploaded to our servers
- Anonymous metadata - We collect anonymous usage metadata (scan success rates, processing times) to improve our service. You can opt out anytime.
Metadata Collection
When you use our scanning feature, we may collect anonymous metadata to improve our service:
- Scan statistics - Success/failure rates, processing times
- Feature usage - Which features are used most
- Performance metrics - OCR accuracy improvements
What we DON'T collect:
- Your images (processed locally only)
- Personal information
- Product names or brands
- Location data
- Identifiable user information
All metadata is anonymized and aggregated. You can opt out of metadata collection using the checkbox during scanning.
Local Processing
When you use label scanning, all image processing happens entirely in your browser. Your images never leave your device. This ensures maximum privacy and allows offline functionality.
Progressive Web App (PWA) and Caching
HalalCodeCheck is a Progressive Web App that uses browser caching technology to store resources locally for offline functionality. This means:
- App files are cached for faster loading and offline access
- Label scanning library files are cached after first use for faster subsequent scans
- All cached data is stored locally in your browser
- You can clear cached data at any time through your browser settings
- No cached data is shared with us or any third parties
Caching improves performance and enables offline functionality, but you maintain full control over your cached data through browser settings.
Voice Search Privacy
When you use voice search, your speech is processed by your browser's built-in speech recognition service. Depending on your browser, audio may be sent to the browser provider's servers (e.g., Google for Chrome, Microsoft for Edge) for processing. We do not receive, store, or have access to any audio recordings or transcriptions. Voice search functionality is provided by your browser's native capabilities, and privacy is governed by your browser provider's privacy policy.
